Due to a higher than anticipated number of play submissions for this year’s festival, we are running behind schedule with the selection process. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, and we will do our best to finalize the selections as soon as possible. Thank you very kindly for your patience- Elisa (managing producer)
Many thanks and apologies to the people who have been waiting for these dates! There were some technical difficulties with the site and I was unable to update for several days. Without further ado:
*June 19-22 Technical and Dress rehearsals for Black Box Black Blocks (all choreographers and directors will be required to attend)
June 23-27 Performances of Black Box Black Blocks in the Lab Theatre at 8pm Wednesday-Saturday, and 2pm matinee (for these, directors and choreographers may be absent, but all performers must attend)
Thank you all very much for your patience- EGD
Hello to all the lovely people interested in being a part of this project! To keep you updated, we have recently set the date for the panel review of Choreography Proposals for April 7, 2010. If you plan to defend your proposal, please clear that afternoon in your calendar. As for directors, please bear with us as we review your information and bear in mind that we will very likely be calling all qualified directors to an interview in our final selection process. Hopefully (especially since dates for that have not yet been set) we will be able to accommodate for your schedules in that process. As always thank you for joining us in basking in the creative potential of simplicity.
Greetings to all! We have good news for all directors, choreographers, and playwrights in need of an outlet for their wonderful creativity this summer: our deadline for submission is April 1, 2010, and you are warmly invited to join us in our quest to bring new short works by local Honolulu artists to life. The rules and details for your respective positions are listed in this site’s pages under Choreographers, Directors, and Playwrights (listed to the top right of the page). Thank you very much, and we hope we’ll see you in our in-boxes soon!
And our lovely festival has a mention for the new year in the Honolulu Star Bulletin! We are very proud of ourselves, and so I am posting a link: 2009 Theatre Picks. Please continue to support us in 2010!
We have been very fortunate to have audience members offer detailed and insightful opinions on our comments page, and we have also had some really wonderful press in the Honolulu Star Bulletin (written by columnist and reviewer John Berger). Should you have time and inclination, I highly recommend that anyone curious about the festival check these sources out, and for the sake of making the Star Bulletin pieces easier to find, here are the links:

I hope you enjoy them! Also, if you saw the show and would like the world to know what you thought, please consider posting on the Audience Comments page. We’d love to see what you think.
