Points of View

We have been very fortunate to have audience members offer detailed and insightful opinions on our comments page, and we have also had some really wonderful press in the Honolulu Star Bulletin (written by columnist and reviewer John Berger).  Should you have time and inclination, I highly recommend that anyone curious about the festival check these sources out, and for the sake of making the Star Bulletin pieces easier to find, here are the links:

I hope you enjoy them!  Also, if you saw the show and would like the world to know what you thought, please consider posting on the Audience Comments page.  We’d love to see what you think.

Getting the Word Out

Hello, again!  Our big news today is that we’ve made some very major updates to the site, so even if you’ve been kind enough to visit the site before, every single page has since changed.  Also in new-business, we’re getting the word out!  The press release should be leaving the Kennedy Theatre advertising office sometime this week, and Black Box has made it onto every major Honolulu event calendar online, including the official tourist bureau website gohawaii.com.  Finally, for kicks, here are some fun pictures we took with two choreographers/dancers, a director, and an actor at the auditions on June 4th:

Dates/Times/Prices Update

Thank you for visiting the Black Box Black Blocks festival website! Finally, after much wrangling and many meetings, we have finite dates and prices for the festival. There will be shows on the 9th, 10th, and 11th of July at 8:00 PM, and there will be a matinee performance on the 12th of July at 2:00. Tickets will be available at the door of the Earle Ernst Lab Theatre one hour before each performance and will cost $7.00 for regular adult tickets and $5.00 for students (with any form of school ID) and seniors. We will be accepting cash only.

For those of our visitors who wish to be involved, actor and dancer positions are still open!  We will be holding a second round of open auditions on Thursday, June 4th.  Dancer auditions will be at 1:30 and actor auditions will be at 3:00.  For further information, please see the audition page.

Thank you, and please join us as we celebrate the joys of new works and group art!

WELCOME!

Welcome to the Black Box Black Blocks website!  This front-page blog is where we will be posting updates as the project progresses.  In the meantime, please take the time to peruse the pages (links can be found at the top of the bar to the right) and imagine the boundless possibilities three black theatre cubes can provide.  We hope you’ll consider joining us in plying our trades and basking in the glories of group-art.
